"The value of architecture is not just the beauty, but the possibility of relations it enables"
I've always had a quiet curiosity about the environments that we live in, both natural and built. Growing up in a place of incredible diversity, I’ve spent countless hours exploring, wandering and wondering. Often labelled as the ‘quiet one’, my natural approach has been to observe, listen and absorb all that is happening around me.
When I think about my approach to interior architecture, particularly my work in designing contemporary learning environments, much has remained the same. With over ten years specialising in the field, I am determined to continue to improve the places where children learn, through better understanding how they learn and the types of environments that support them.
My work focuses on bringing together the disciplines of Interior Architecture and Educational Planning. Through years of project work, research and post occupancy study, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the links between people, practice and place. I have been involved in projects across varying scales and sectors, contributed to the design of internationally recognised exemplars and worked alongside leaders in the field of learning space design.
My approach combines observations of the people and practices that I am designing for, while engaging with leading research in the field. I work alongside educators, students, researchers and designers to establish a strong foundation and common language for all projects, appreciating that each school is unique in its’ character, community and context.
I believe that through education we can create meaningful and sustainable change in our communities, both locally and globally, and that the environments that we create for learning should be purposeful, relational and beautiful.
